Privacy policy

1. Purpose of this policy

This policy explains how Walker Engineering collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

2. What we collect

We collect the information you give us when you enquire about a project or engage us: your name, email address, phone number, the site address the enquiry relates to, and any message, photographs, sketches or plans you choose to send. During a project we may also hold correspondence, drawings and site records relating to the work.

Our website collects only what is required to serve pages. We do not require an account to browse the site.

3. Why we collect it

We use personal information to respond to enquiries, prepare quotes and fee proposals, carry out engineering work, issue drawings, reports and certificates, and to meet our record-keeping obligations.

4. Who we disclose it to

Where a project requires it, we may share relevant information with the other parties to that project — your builder, architect, building certifier, the relevant council, or a geotechnical consultant. We do not sell personal information, and we do not disclose it for marketing by others.

5. Storage and security

Project records are retained because engineering documentation may need to be produced years after a project is completed. We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure.

6. Access and correction

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate or out of date. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period.

7. Complaints

If you believe your personal information has been mishandled, contact us first so we can investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
